The problem

Kratom, some knives, pepper spray and certain supplement ingredients are restricted in some places and not in others. The rules are set state by state, and sometimes county by county or city by city.

Shopify checkout accepts any address in the countries you ship to. Keeping restricted orders out means knowing every rule that applies to every product you sell, and noticing when one of them changes.

Most stores handle this with a spreadsheet and a manual check before fulfillment. That works until the store gets busy, or a rule changes without anyone on the team hearing about it.

How it works

  1. Pick your categories

    Tell Gatekeep which regulated products you sell: kratom, delta-8 THC, pepper spray, nicotine pouches, or any of 38 others.

  2. We load the rules

    Gatekeep applies the rule library for those categories: every state and DC, plus county and city rules where they exist.

  3. Checkout refuses banned destinations

    When a cart holds a restricted product and the shipping address is somewhere it's restricted, checkout won't complete for that address.

Other apps give you a rule builder. Gatekeep brings the rules with it.
